This project will consider the complexities of Thomas Jefferson as both a pioneer of freedom as well as a Virginian plantation slave owner as interpreted by the Thomas Jefferson Foundation at Monticello. Furthermore, this work considers the challenges and benefits of presenting a complex narrative for Jefferson in the classroom.
