Abstract

After electrochemical or chemical oxidation of ferroceneboronic acid, the resulting ferriceniumboronic acid is found to react with tetrafluoborate to form ferricenyltrifluoborate. This reaction with a common electrolyte can be extended to other boronic acids that possess a sufficiently low pKa (< 7).
