Abstract

My approach to one of Alberto Blest Gana's historical novels underlined the violent collision of narratives of liberation and organization over a 19th-Century city in transition. My main concern was the construction of women as inscription of collateral damage in a war as much as a body to negotiate the settlement of a new public order to overcome, precisely, the consequences of war.
