Oil Paint on Wooden Panels
From the Artist: My work is a collection of paintings referenced from both old and more recent pictures of my grandmother. I am using wooden panels with oil paint using monochromes. The viewer should to be able to make a personal connection with the paintings without knowing who it is.
These paintings create a portal for the viewer to feel a connection and emotion through memories. The significance of these paintings to me is my connection to the subject, my grandmother, who has since passed. While creating each painting, memories go through my own head creating an energy that transfers into each brush stroke. The use of dry paint brushes of different sizes, a look of fading is given to create even more of a sense of memory and passed time. Each painting is referenced from old pictures but painted as if the viewer has gone back in time and is a part of the painting.
