Dr. John William Jones composed For the People: an oratorio celebrating the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial. He also conducted the piece when it was performed at the Majestic Theater on September 21, 2013 as part of the bicentennial celebration of Abraham Lincoln and the sesquicentennial anniversary of the American Civil War.
The musicians and performers included Spires Brass Band, Victorian Dance Ensemble, SCM Woodwind Septet, and the Susquehanna Travellers. The guest singers included Stacey Mastrian (soprano), Jeffrey Fahnestock (tenor) and Robert Cantrell (bass-baritone). Jocelyn Swigger accompanied on piano, and Jeff Shaara narrated the story.
