Description
In 2002, Gettysburg College adopted a policy restricting the ability to join fraternities and sororities to students who had achieved at least sophomore status and extended the length of new member education from 3 weeks to 4 weeks. After 11 years with this policy in place, the Office of Greek Life and the governing councils of the social, Greek-lettered organizations submitted this review and proposal for new member education effective the spring 2014 semester. The Student Life Committee reviewed and conditionally accepted this proposal as a one-year pilot program. This policy will be reviewed again in January 2015 to assess the success of the program.
