Through the Summer Scholar program, the Mellon Foundation supports undergraduate research in the humanities and social sciences. Mellon Summer Scholar projects are connected to students’ ongoing programs of study. Students and faculty mentors are paired using the scholar development model. For some students, the summer research lays the foundation for a senior capstone project. For others, it continues a line of inquiry begun in a previous course. Together with their faculty mentors, undergraduates design and complete projects, share results with our campus and professional communities, and reflect on what they have learned. The Mellon Foundation has supported this work since 2006.
