Abstract

This chapter explores the impact of postmodernist thought on higher education. While DeNicola celebrates the revelations critical theories have produced, he argues that postmodernists' attacks on liberalism have damaged the humanities and social sciences and contributed to a post-truth culture. Such a culture, he states, is contrary to the values of higher education, including freedom of thought, universalist ethics, and rational procedures.
