About This Journal

The Mercury is dedicated to showcasing undergraduate creative written and visual work. It is entirely run by students, and has been in publication since 1893. Currently, The Mercury is published annually in both physical and digital form, making it accessible to the world.

Events

The Mercury holds a reception in April to celebrate the magazine’s publication. Throughout the year,The Mercury staff participate in campus events such as the Activities Fair, Get Acquainted Day, and co-sponsored events with Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society. In 2012, The Mercury hosted its first "Write Night," an opportunity for students to read their work in a formal setting.

The Mercury Prize

Each year, the staff awards a monetary prize to the best piece of work published in each genre, judged by Gettysburg College alumni who are currently active in the fields of art and writing.
