MS-001: Wilton C. Dinges Collection (H. L. Mencken Collection)

The bulk of the collection is correspondence between Mencken and Antoinette Feleky, wife of Charles Feleky, a close friend of Mencken's. Other items include several typed manuscripts, bibliographic information compiled from newspaper and magazine articles about Mencken, family and friends and other miscellaneous. -

The Amos E. Taylor Collection includes materials covering many decades of his life including his extensive education, his military service in World War II, and his career working for federal agencies, presidents, and economic associations. -
MS-004: Papers of Frank H. Kramer, Class of 1914
Christine M. Ameduri
Frank Kramer graduated from Pennsylvania College in 1914 and was chairman of the Education Department in addition to teaching courses on Oriental Art. Of special note to researchers are the photo album of campus life in the nineteen-teens, scrapbook of commencement activities between 1939 and 1948 and correspondence from soldiers in camp during WWI. -
MS-005: The Papers of Charles H. Huber, Class of 1892

The Papers of Charles H. Huber includes correspondence, materials related to Gettysburg Academy, the United Lutheran Church, and his father, Eli Huber, Class of 1855 and the first professor of English Bible at Pennsylvania College. -
MS-006: Papers of the Philomathaean and Phrenakosmian Societies

The bulk of the collection consists of the official record books of the two societies and their libraries. Constitutions, minute books, account books and library circulation records cover the period 1831-1924 (with gaps). -
MS-007: The Papers of Jerry Spinelli, Class of 1963

The Jerry Spinelli collection traces the writing career of the children’s author from 1961- 2003. The papers consist mainly of various versions of manuscripts including his original handwritten manuscripts, several editions of his books and some promotional material. -

The William H. Young Collection is divided into two Series. I. Biographical Information; and II. Correspondence. This collection consists primarily of correspondence between William H. Young and his wife Susan from August 10, 1862 through March 18, 1865 (with gaps). -
MS-009: Ambrose Henry Hayward Papers

The Ambrose Henry Hayward Collection consists primarily of correspondence from the period April 14, 1861 through August 17, 1864. The bulk of the letters were written by A.H. Hayward to his father, sister and brothers, but the collection includes 3 letters written by Melville Hayward of the 7th New York (6/22/1862, 7/10/1862, 7/23/1862), letters from Henry's commanding officers regarding his service and four letters regarding Henry's death. -
MS-010: The Papers of the Linnaean Association

The Linnaean Association collection contains published speeches, the four-volume faculty publication, The Literary Record and Journal of the Linnaean Association of Pennsylvania College, original items from the Library of the Linnaean Association, and general records of the Association. -
MS-011: Lewis W. Tway Collection

The Lewis W. Tway Collection consists of two boxes of Civil War mementos. Items carried by Tway during the war include a "housewife", bible, inkwell, diary, currency (fractional and postage) and photographs (of himself and another soldier). The collection contains a letter written to his sister soon after he was wounded, the torn swatch of pants through which the bullet entered his leg, and two letters from a young lady whose comfort package he received in 1865. -
MS-012: Robert Weidensall Collection

The collection is almost exclusively comprised of materials relating to Weidensall's work with the International YMCA, much of it authored by himself. No personal information other than his employment history with the association is included. -
MS-013: Karl Friedrich May Collection
Christine M. Ameduri
Considered to be the most successful German author of all time with more than 100 million copies of his 70 plus adventure novels translated in over 30 different languages and sold world-wide. This collection includes the 2-volume typescript English translation of May's In the Desert was most likely done by Willoughby. -
MS-014: Thomas Cheshire Papers

The Thomas Cheshire Papers mainly consist of his handwritten document describing his capture, prison experience, and escape from Andersonville. The manuscript is supplemented by correspondence written by Cheshire’s family members, army officials, and one letter from Cheshire himself. -
MS-015: Frederick H. Kronenberger, Company G, 2nd Regiment New Jersey Volunteers

Frederick H. Kronenberger was mustered into Co. G, 2nd Regiment, New Jersey Volunteers Infantry in Trenton, New Jersey on December 4, 1863. The collection consists of 26 letters written by Kronenberger to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kronenberger, and aunts and uncles Hill and Ludwig while posted at Camp Perrine, New Jersey, in December 1863, and from near Brandy Station, Virginia, early 1864. -
MS-016: Edmund Burke Papers (1729? - 1797)

The collection consists of 9 letters written between 1762 and 1796 from Charles O'Hara, Joseph Herford, John Nobel, Lord Charlemont (James Caulfeild), Dorothy Silburn, Richard Champion, De Genouillae and Britannicus, one letter written by William Draper dated November 23, two undated notes in Burke's hand, one poem, "To a Mouse who was caught…", and one receipt for R. T. Doodsley, signed by Edmund Burke. -
MS-017: Mervin R. Hamsher Papers

The Hamsher collection consists of personal correspondence between 1875 - 1969, from his father, Oliver C., sister, Elsie and brother Merle, his classmates from college and his classmate's children. It also contains speeches, writings and papers Hamsher wrote while a student at Gettysburg College between 1902 and 1904, and pamphlets, newsletters and church bulletins related to the Lutheran Church. -

MS-019: Donald F. Lybarger Collection, Class of 1919
Christine M. Ameduri
This collection consists of an unbound class memorial which has been kept in its original order. Almost all letters are written from Gettysburg College students stationed in stateside military training camps between 1917 and 1919 and addressed to Lybarger or "Brothers of Phi Sigma." A scrapbook kept by Lybarger while a student at Gettysburg between 1914-1919 includes photographs, programs, dance cards and other college memorabilia. -
MS-020: The Papers of John H. Warner

The John H. Warner collection consists of thirty-eight letters written by Warner to family members and friends during the period October 1, 1862 - May 5, 1865. The affectionate, optimistic letters provide a picture of camp, and later hospital life during the Civil War through the eyes of a young soldier from New York. He served in Co. G of the 109th New York State Volunteers.
