MS-042: Lt. Sylvester Crossley, 118 Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers, Company H (Corn Exchange)

This diary/journal consists of entries that Sylvester Crossley kept between December of 1864, his sixth month as a prisoner of war in Marion, Georgia, and May 15, 1865, about three months after his escape. It is a first hand account of his day to day life in a southern military prison camp, his experiences while an escapee and eventual return to his unit. -
MS-043: George Washington Beidelman Collection

This collection shares Beidelman's political opinions, religious beliefs, and camp-life descriptions. Most correspondence is from 1862, in which George writes diary-like entries to his father, recounting each day’s activities. Accounts of the fighting at Ball’s Bluff and Fredericksburg are the most detailed battle descriptions. -
MS-044: Stephen H. Warner Collection

In addition to hundreds of photographs and negatives, the collection contains letters, manuscript notebooks and notepads, drafts of articles, and copies of feature stories printed in army publications written by Warner during his time in Southeast Asia. Also included are army publications on a variety of topics, including travel guides and cultural studies. -
MS-048: World War I Service Questionnaires

This collection contains World War I service questionnaires from Gettysburg College alumni who served during the war. Phi Delta Theta sent questionnaires to the fraternity's alumni to record their experience overseas or at home. Professor S.N. Hagen also contacted alumni to record their wartime participation. -

The personal papers of Jacob M. Yingling, which include materials about Gettysburg College, family genealogy, the Carroll County Historical Society, the Maryland House of Delegates, the civic, community, and fraternal organizations he was part of, and his publications. -
MS-050: Robert B. Arms Collection

This collection consists of papers regarding quarterly returns, receipts, and letters from the ordnance office; along with muster rolls, descriptive lists and state of Vermont orders, and materials on the 16th Vermont Reunions. The majority of the collection is the basic paperwork of an officer. The post-war documents demonstrate how Arms served his state after the war. -

This collection consists of letters, news reports, photographs from Moore's service in Vietnam, and correspondence from Richard to his wife, Claire Moore. -
MS-052: The Papers of the Stephen H. Warner Committee

This collection from the Stephen H. Warner Committee on campus includes correspondence between Stephen Warner's parents and college personnel, Warner-inspired proposed renovations to the College Union Building, and other papers relating to committee actions. -
MS-053: Charles D. Ryan, 66th Engineers

The collection consists primarily of letters from Charles Ryan to Elizabeth Dooling, his wife-to-be. The letters to Elizabeth begin on March 29, 1918 and the final one in the collection is dated June 3, 1919. -
MS-054: Papers of David Hedrick on the Stephen H. Warner Exhibit

This collection contains correspondence between Warner’s mother and Curator David Hedrick; however, the letters focus on the memory of Steve portrayed in the exhibit, “Stephen H. Warner 1946- 1971: Words and Pictures from the Vietnam War.” It also includes numerous photographs and the actual exhibit materials about Warner’s experiences in Vietnam. -

The World War II German POW Collection consists of one box of processed materials, encompassing .3 cubic feet. It is composed of two series: I. Materials likely confiscated by the intelligence corps and II. Miscellaneous newspaper clippings. -
MS-057: The Papers of Donna O. Schaper, Class of 1969: The Gettysburg Years

This collection consists of correspondence and college papers from Donna Osterhoudt Schaper, who graduated from Gettysburg College in 1969. As a student, she was part of the student protest movement against the Vietnam War, and she interned for the College Chapel before attending the Lutheran Theological Seminary. -
MS-058: Nancy Springer Papers, Class of 1970

This collection consists largely of manuscripts of Nancy Springer's earlier novels, dating from 1977 to 1987. Although the vast majority of the manuscripts are typed with handwritten corrections, the collection does contain the first draft of The Golden Swan written entirely in Nancy Springer’s hand. -

This collection consists of research notes, sources, and manuscripts for A Salutary Influence: Gettysburg College, 1832-1985, written by Dr. Charles H. Glatfelter. It also contains committee papers, department chair files, and faculty manuals and papers. -
MS-060: Henry N. Bemis Diaries

This collection consists primarily of two diaries kept by Bemis during the Civil War. The first diary runs from July 17th, 1862 to March 14th, 1864 while the second diary runs from March 17th 1864 to July 4th 1864. -
MS-061: Charles A. Rubright Collection

The Charles A. Rubright Collection consists primarily of three journals he kept throughout the war, a letter he sent from Andersonville Prison camp to his sister, and post-war newspapers. -
MS-062: George Hay Kain Papers, Class of 1897

The collection consists of 46 of George Hay Kain’s letters to his college girlfriend, A. Marjorie Zug, a student at the Women’s College of Baltimore. His letters include commentary on various aspects of college life at Pennsylvania College. The letters date from 1896-1898. -
MS-063: Melancthon E. Washburn Family Collection

This collection consists primarily of correspondence between Washburn and his family members during the Civil War period. It also has scrapbooks, the diary of Melancthon’s son William Washburn, wedding invitations, Confederate bonds and currency, and a public broadside advertising a slave auction. -
